When we talk about lifting, it does not necessarily only concern the face. With age or after weight reduction, the skin loses its elasticity and sags almost on all parts of the body. Thigh lift surgery (thigh lift, thigh plasty) adjusts and shapes the contours of the thighs by removing excess skin and fat. The result is smoother and firmer shapes and a younger appearance of the treated area.
As with liposuction, this procedure is not primarily intended for weight loss. On the contrary, if you have managed to lose weight through exercise or diet, but you cannot achieve optimal skin tightening or remove localized fat deposits, then it is the right time for a lift.
The procedure is most often undergone by women in younger and middle age after significant weight loss. It is also suitable for adjusting the contours of the thighs during or after menopause, when there is a significant loss of collagen, causing the skin to appear saggy despite well-maintained muscles.
In this case, too, the procedure is preceded by a personal consultation with a plastic surgeon, where you will go through all the requirements for undergoing the procedure, both from the client's and the doctor's side.
Basic Information
- The procedure is performed under general anesthesia
- After the procedure, the thighs will be bandaged with elastic bandages, and even in the following period, we recommend wearing compression garments to improve the effect of the procedure and to support wound healing and absorption of swelling. These may persist for 1 to 3 months after the procedure.
- Immediately after the operation, drains may be inserted into the wounds to drain bleeding and prevent the formation of hematomas.
- It is necessary to avoid more demanding physical activities for at least a few days after the operation. If you have a non-demanding office job, you can return to work 1 week after the procedure.
- If your job requires lifting heavier objects or more strenuous physical activity, sick leave of 3 to 6 weeks is necessary.
- Postoperative scars will gradually fade 2 to 3 months after the procedure and will visibly reduce over two years. However, it should be noted that they will never disappear completely.
