Middle ear infection is a very common disease in preschool children.
The insertion of a ventilation tube is a procedure that ensures drainage and ventilation of the middle ear. The ventilation tube is microscopic in size and is inserted into a cut opening in the eardrum membrane – myringotomy. The goal is to ensure proper ventilation of the middle ear with drainage of the contents of the tympanic cavity, thereby correcting hearing impairment and regenerating the mucosa of the tympanic cavity.
Basic Information
- The procedure is performed under general anesthesia
- Regular check-ups with the local ORL doctor every 1 – 3 months
- Do not clean ears at home with commercial sticks
- The tube is left in the eardrum membrane for several months up to 1 year
