It is the incision or puncture of the eardrum membrane. It is performed in cases of hearing impairment caused by fluid in the middle ear. If the problem persists for more than 3-6 months after removing possible causes and fluid remains in the tympanic cavity, the insertion of a ventilation tube under general anesthesia is indicated.
