Trigger finger

Trigger finger symptoms:
  • Catching or "snapping" when extending the finger
  • Painful movement, especially in the morning or under load
  • Locked finger that is difficult to straighten

Causes:

  • Inflammation or post-traumatic tendon changes
  • Metabolic diseases (diabetes, gout)
  • Idiopathic (without clear cause)

How does treatment work?

Conservative treatment:
  • Injection (corticosteroids) and hand immobilization
  • Short-term improvement, frequent return of symptoms
Surgical treatment (recommended):
  • Outpatient procedure under local anesthesia
  • Incision in the palm area (approx. 1.5 cm)
  • Division of A1 pulley, which releases the tendon
  • Duration: approx. 30 minutes, no hospitalization required
